Apartment locating at it's core is a service business. It involves working with a lot of people at once. Managing what a lot of people need. Getting a lot of people what they want. Good communication. Being friendly and attentive. I know many people in the service industry who have made successful transitions into the apartment locating business.

Apartment Leasing Agents

Few professions have more overlap with apartment locators than apartment leasing agents. The roles are similar, the industry is the same, and the work overlaps in many ways.

The main differences between leasing agents & apartment locators is the payment style Leasing agents get paid consistent salaries, and locators get paid on commission.

Basically Anything

The reality is that you don’t need any experience to enter apartment locating. As long as you have basic organization skills with technology, are friendly, and know a lot about your area, you have everything you need to work as a locator.
