Taco Street Locating. In less than 4 years I've made over half a million dollars apartment locating.
Writing that feels crazy given where I was.
I was a desperate 27 year old with no career or any professional path forward. Worse, I was dead broke. Only rent money from Dad got me by.
All I had was a real estate license.
Apartment locating wasn't high on my list of careers to pursue. Desperation was the only reason I started.
It was supposed to be a quick detour for me to pay rent.
I never could have imagined dramatically it would change my life.
In what felt like a flash I went from broke to running a multiple six-figure business. I've worked with hundreds of clients from all around the world. I've built teams across four cities - Austin, Dallas, Houston, and Miami. I became one of the top apartment locators in my market.
The money was great, but the best part was the life I built.
I didn't have to kill myself to make this all happen.
In fact, I worked part time hours. I slept well. I kept stress low. I went to the gym most days. My office was my kitchen counter or the co-working space at a local gym where I wore the clothes I woke up with.
I explored new hobbies and passion projects, and never sacrificed time with friends or family.
I traveled the world for over six months and bought a house in my favorite neighborhood.
Of course it wasn't all easy. I've felt all the emotions one could feel running a business. Frustration from shitty clients, fear of failing at something new, and rage at people who didn't pay me.
But I also know the joy of seeing big juicy checks flow in, the satisfaction of providing a valuable service, the confidence that comes making $40,000 in a single month, and most importantly, the independence that comes with doing it all on my own terms.
Which now brings us to why I'm writing this, and why you're reading this.
