The Emotions Before Beginning Apartment Locating

Starting something new always comes with fears. I know I was afraid when I started. In my case I was too broke and desperate to afford fear. I still feel fear whenever I do something new - this course included. That's normal. I want this last lesson to help you process and reframe the emotions you may be dealing with before getting started.

Fears

I'm new to the industry. How can I compete with established players?

  • Reality: Everyone starts off somewhere. Most who enter this business do so with barely any training and figure things out the hard way. You have an opportunity to get a head start. And the honest truth is that most apartment locators suck at what they do. You get to learn straight from one of the best in the business.

I've never done real estate!

  • Reality: That's ok. I didn't know shit about apartment locating before I began. If you know your city, can tour apartments and communicate with humans you have all the tools you need

I don't think I can do it.

  • Reality: Maybe you can. Maybe you can't. Courage is doing things you're afraid to do.

I'm not sure I'll like this business.

  • Reality: That's ok. If you don't like this business you can take the lessons you learn here into whatever else you do. You'll at least come out knowing a new way to make money.

I'm not good/smart/talented enough.

  • Reality: I promise you far less competent people than you are making money in apartment locating.

Am I going to fail like most people who enter the business?

  • Reality: Maybe, but at least you'll have the blueprint to make it significantly less likely you'll fail.

These are all understandable emotions to have at this point. I felt them all before I started, and I didn't have anybody training me. I had to figure it out all on my own.

I'm not telling you not to feel things emotions, but instead I'll leave you with the potential upside emotions on the other side of this business.

Excitement

Here are some positive thoughts to think about.

  • You can turn this into a viable new way to make money

  • You can find out what it's like to become an entrepreneur.

  • You can make money by knowing a ton about my city and showing people around.

  • People will love the work you do for them.

  • You can make money doing a business I actually like.

  • You can build the schedule and life you want and work on your terms.

My Concluding Thoughts

Apartment locating has been the most profound financial and professional decision of my life. It turned me into an entrepreneur. It's shown me all the emotions (good and bad) that can come with running a business. It's why own a house in my favorite neighborhood rather than renting an old shitty rat-den apartment. It's given me the security knowing I'll always have a robust way to make money. More than anything else It show me that it's possible to make money and live life on my terms.

If you're open to it. If you're ready for it. I'd love to show you the way.
