Apartment Locating Tools & Technology

Technology has been a critical part of my success in apartment locating. I've been able to off-load thousands of hours of work and streamline huge parts of my business by using the right tools. Below is a list of my most important tools and resources when it comes to running my apartment locating business.

Note, most of these are affiliate links, which means I'll get some taco-money if you buy through them.

Smart Apartment Data

This is the primary database you'll use as an apartment locator. It's your primary research database and how you'll send research reports to clients. If you're clever you can also use this tool to find your perfect market.

Website Builder - Strikingly

I barely know anything about website building. You wouldn't know that from the websites I've built (even this one), but it's true. I'm only competent enough to use bare-bones-basic software building tools.

When I first started Taco Street Locating I knew I needed my own website. I wanted to stand out with a fun brand and make a professional looking page.

Wordpress and even sites like Squarespace were too complicated for me. I wanted something even simpler.

That's when I stumbled on Strikingly. Strikingly is by far the easiest website building tool I've ever found. That's where I built the first Taco Street Locating website. It was quick, and surprisingly easy. I could embed my Involve.me contact form easy and collect leads. It was a great tool for what I needed it for.

Eventually down the road I hired a professional developer to build me a new website on WordPress, which is that you see now on the Taco Street website, but Strikingly was the best possible tool for me starting early on.

Involve.Me

Involve me is one of my absolute favorite real estate software tools. It's let me build customized intake forms that are fun, goofy, and extremely effective for separating good leads from the bad ones. Using this means I can avoid wasting time on low value leads and stick to my best high value leads.

Book Keeping & Accounting - Bench

I've been a happy Bench customer for over 4 years. it's a life-saving company with cheap software that handles all of my book keeping & accounting. I can't imagine what I'd do without it.

Zapier

Zapier is a really fun tool to connect different pieces of technology together. I can connect my Involve.me lead form to my CRM and automate text messaging to notify me when new leads come in. Tons of stuff you can do with this

Toby

Toby is a great tool to turn your browser into a great business dashboard so you can organize all of your most common resources into one place. It's like having a bookmarks bar on steroids

Invoicing - Quickbooks

Everyone in apartment locating knows how much of a pain in the ass it is to get paid. I've been using Quickbooks for years to make & send invoices to make things easier.

Business Cards - Moo

Moo, the funny cow-themed business card maker, was a god send when making my first business cards for apartment locating. It was super easy and fun to make good quality business cards. Everyone always commented on how fun and playful my cards were. Made it really easy to get referrals this way from people I would meet in person.

Canva

Canva is a super cool graphic design platform for people for amatuers and professionals alike. I've used it to make business cards, brand drafts and website mock ups.
